Social Distancing Coronavirus – Covid 19 Guide for our Clients & their Employees
Friday, March 20th, 2020
The advice below was correct at the time of writing, however as the Pandemic situation is evolving and appears to be changing on a daily basis, we strongly recommend that for the latest guidance and advice on Coronavirus you go to the NHS website:- https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/
***If there is the slightest chance that you or anyone in your family has been feeling at all unwell or has been in contact with anyone who has tested positive for Coronavirus, or is showing any of the symptoms of Coronavirus (persistent dry cough and/or high temperature), please ensure that you self-isolate immediately for the recommended period & notify your employer/ employee.***
- Upon arrival at a Client’s home, please remove your outdoor shoes & change into clean, indoor shoes/slippers. Remove your coat & leave any bags at the door.
- Practice good hygiene upon arrival (& also when leaving the property) – wash your hands with soap & warm water for at least 20 seconds (including through the fingers, back of the hands & palms). Regularly wash bare hands – this offers more protection than wearing rubber gloves (if you wear gloves & then touch contaminated surfaces, you could pick up & transfer the virus). If you do need to wear gloves, please ensure that they are washed thoroughly & regularly.
- Avoid physical contact when greeting – safe greetings include a wave, smile or a bump of the elbows!
- Practice good respiratory hygiene – cover your mouth & nose with a bent elbow or tissue when coughing or sneezing. Dispose of the tissue immediately. Don’t forget that not every cough or sneeze is coronavirus – it is a persistent dry cough which is one of the signs.
- All cleaning equipment needs to be provided by the employer even if you are self-employed – do not bring cleaning cloths/detergents etc from other households. Please make sure all cloths are washed after every cleaning session.
- If you do have to self-isolate, please speak to your employer/employee about what will happen. Don’t forget that this is a short-term issue & there will be a need for flexibility on both sides to keep up a good working relationship for the future.
Most of all, be kind & support one another!
